I have just received a telegram from Sir Alexander Grantham asking me to send you a copy of his savingram about establishing an Endowment Fund for the Hong Kong University.

Sir Alexander has suggested a meeting between Colonial office representatives, yourself, and Sir Arthur horse, Sir Man Kam Lo and Colonel kide to discuss what we can do tɔ find a solution to this thorny problem of ensuring that the University has adequate funds to carry on its activities.

Colonel Ride is due to return to Hong Kong next Friday the 20th July. It appears from your programa that you will be in Church House for an address by the Chief of the Imperial Staff at 10.30 a.m. on Monday the 16th July and perhaps you could then come up, after the address, to room 344 for a meeting with Sir Christopher Cox, Colonel Ride and Mr. Walter Adams and myself.

If Monday is not convenient the only other date I can suggest is Thursday, but that depends on whether you will be going on the tour to Scotland or not.

I have written to Sir Arthur Morse and Sir Lan Kau lo in similar ters and I very much hope that such a meeting can be arranged as suggested abɔve,

please let me know, as soon as possible, whether you will be able to come. My telephone No. is Whitehall 2366 extension 121.

Mr.T.N. Chau, C.B.4.
